There are truly no words that can describe the simply awesome display of sprinting that Jamaica's Usain Bolt delivered to win the Men's 100m title at the Beijing Olympics.
The field was left for dead and his superiorty shone through as early as 50 metres when he began to pull clear of the field on his way to setting a new World Record of 9.69, despite switching on the afterburners with 20m to go.
It was purely memorable to watch the World's greatest 100m sprinter on top of his game when it counted the most.
Whereas Bolt can look to the 200m with assurance of a double Gold almost assured by the bookmakers, the rest of the world's sprinters can only admire the awesome ability of athlete who showed so much promise as a 15 year old.
Unfortunately, the warning bells are already ringing, especially from Canadian shores where they feel they have seen this all before in the form of Ben Johnson in 1988. This is the sad world of sport currently, where no performance can go without being considered tainted.
There is no doubt that Bolt has pedigree and that he has been an athlete in the making however there are the unmistakable whisperings doing the corridors regarding Jamaican athletes and only the future will tell the significance of such whispers.
For now we enjoy the games and admire the performances, leaving the officials to do their job.
