Kenyan Marathon squad for Berlin World Champs 2009

The Kenyans have announced their Marathon Squad for the World Championships in Berlin early this year, no doubt looking for a commitment from their top marathoners early

Both Beijing Olympic Marathon Champ Samuel Wanjiru and reigning World champion Catherine Ndereba have been selected and will lead a  powerful Kenyan squad at the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics, Berlin 2009.

[More:]

The Kenyan Marathon Squad

Men: Samuel WanjiruSamuel Wanjiru, James Kwambai, Duncan Kibet, Daniel Rono, Emmanuel Mutai

Women: Agnes Kiprop, Helena Loshanyang Kiprop, Irene Limika, Catherine Ndereba and Salina Kosgei

The Men's team is scary to say the least with 3 athletes  having run around 2:05 and faster

Then consider their reserves

Men: Luke Kibet, Abel Kirui, Martin Lel, Robert Cheruiyot, David Kipkorir

Women: Martha Komu, Risper Jemeli, Lydia Cheromei, Edith Masai, Irene Mogaka

The reigning Men's World Champion from Osaka, Luke Kibet, is named as well as stud racers, Martin Lel and Robert Cheruiyot, who between the two have pocketed more titles than one could ever imagine possible.

To say that Kenyan marathon running is healthy is somewhat of an understatement

Here's looking forward to Berlin 2009
