Brian Barnett enters the World juniors at the tail end of an excellent season in which he broke two provincial junior records held by world championship medalist Tyler Christopher, and set a meet record on his way to winning the 400m Canadian junior championship. Barnett also won the men’s 200m event. Reid Gustavson will go into the World juniors enjoying the best season of his young career. At the Canadian juniors Gustavson posted personal bests in nine of the ten decathlon events, and broke the Canadian junior record on his way to the Canadian junior title. Other 2006 Canadian junior champions heading to Beijing are: Justyn Warner (100m), Darren Mazzei (800m), Marcus Dillon (3000m steeplechase), Taylor Petrucha (Pole vault), Curtis Moss (Javelin), Kimberley Hyacinthe (100m, 200m), Carline Muir (400m), Alex Becker (1500m), Nikkita Holder (100m hurdles), Sarah Wells (400m hurdles), Gabriella Duclos-Lasnier (Pole vault), Kaitlyn Andrews (Shot put), Elizabeth Gleadle (Javelin), Brianne Theisen (Heptathlon).
