Toronto – Lanni Marchant of London, Ont., broke the women’s Canadian marathon record today at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon. Marchant crossed the finish line in 2:27:58, dipping below Silvia Ruegger’s performance of 2:28:36 set in 1985. [Read more…]

Toronto – Reid Coolsaet of Hamilton, Ont., and Lanni Marchant of London, Ont., earned Canadian titles today at the Oasis Zoo Run which served as the Canadian Championship for the 10-kilometre road race distance. Rounding out the podium for the men were Eric Gillis of Antigonish, N.S., and Dylan Wykes of Kingston, Ont. Dylan Wykes – Eastside 10k 2013
VANCOUVER. September 14th. Canadian Olympian Dylan Wykes and Toronto’s Lioudmila Kortchaguina, the current Canadian Women’s Marathon Champion, recorded impressive victories at Saturday’s inaugural Vancouver Eastside 10K, a Canada Running Series event. Wykes and Kortchaguina each collected a bonus for their new course records of 29:42 and 33:57 respectively, on top of the $800 first-place prizing. [Read more…]

The Canadian Pan American Junior Championship team is coming home from Medellin, Colombia today with quite a bit of extra baggage after winning 19 medals over the course of the weekend. Canada enjoyed its best ever IAAF World Championship last week in Russia and the junior team kept that momentum going with five gold, seven silver, and seven bronze over the course of the three-day competition. Derek Drouin of Corunna, Ont., established a new Canadian record of 2.36-metres in the men’s high jump today at the IAAF’s Diamond League competition in Eugene, Oregon. Drouin finished third behind American Erik Kynard (2.36m) and Essa Barshim of Qatar who set a world leading mark of 2.40-metres. The previous Canadian record was 2.35-metres held by Mark Boswell. Derek will compete next weekend at the NCAA Division 1 Championship. [Read more…]

OTTAWA – Twenty-three Canadians will travel to Bydgoszcz, Poland for the 40th International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Cross Country Championships taking place Sunday March 24.
