Almensch Belete cruised to victory on home soil at the European Athletics Cross Country Permit race in the Belgian town of Roeselare on Sunday.

18 March 2012 – The second edition of the CAA Africa Cross Country Championships took place in Cape Town at Keurboom Park with Kenya once again dominating, taking gold in most of the categories.

The senior men’s race was arguably the most fiercely contested on the day. The first 3 laps saw a bunch of around 40 athletes packed in the front group. As the athletes settled in the subsequent laps the group broke up, showcasing a thinning front pack consisting of athletes mainly Kenya, Eritrea and Ethiopia. [Read more…]

It was with much anticipation that I arrived at Edinburgh by train from London to watch, what was to become, one of the most awesome and memorable cross country races ever run.

The 2002 Dublin World Cross Country Championships

The World Cross Country Championships, Dublin, Ireland was certainly a great place to be for one athlete. And that athlete was 19-year-old Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia.

The last really great Bikila, was the barefoot wonder who won the Olympic Games marathon on 2 occasions. Bekele the marathon runner was followed by Haile Gebrselassie and now we believe that following in their footsteps is the exceptional talent Kenenisa Bekele.
