I'm back here again.....
It was my 45th birthday yesterday and I plan to start with the beginners training program later today.
3x30 mins sessions for the next 2 weeks.
I do a circuit class once a week and have a short cycle to work everyday and run sporadically.
My target is to get a some routine to my sporadic stop start running :)
day 1 – 28mins slow
after the 3 days we can look to do a 4k time-trial
if that is not your choice and you reckon 5k is your long-term aim then do a 1500m time-trail
My short term aim is time on feet/running. But I am tempted by the 5km programme.
This week I have
Sunday — 40 mins, not fast and probably about my limit
Tuesday — 1 hour circuits, high cardio
and run tonight
Is there any benefits to be had with continuing with this weekly schedule, slow stuff and build a base? Also my legs are tired already :)
Ultimately I would like to do a 10km sub50 min, and perhaps a half marathon.
In light of my medium term goals. What would you recommend? Should I go for shorter sessions more regularly? How could I structure a weekly schedule around my Tuesday circuit training?
you can convert the 10km program to be more fitting for 5k training
look to do 3 x 2k
then the 1k session etc
