interesting on the snow shoes, let me know how this works out .. in the north of Europe it has also not been conducive to outside running, so treadmills do play a role now but not many get to go inside

have had friends who had fitted small spikes to their running shoes for winter

hope you have no further problems with the shoulder and that you able to establish a decent base of sorts

onwards and forwards

Well, it's been an interesting few weeks.

Started the build up program again, got through to about day 13, I think that was December 16th took the 17th off as I was starting to feel crappy and by the 18th was down with a major cold. Probably Strep/Tonsillitis/Bronchitis or something. It's been 13 days since. Took about a week for the fatigue and lethargy to go away, been stuffed up and coughing still.

Started again on the 26th, did two days in a row (snowshoes) took the third day off as I was too busy, but started again yesterday with a 60 min jog in the ice and snow. I think yesterday was a good day to start, almost totally over the cold I think now.

Anyway, despite the 6 days completely off being sick, Christmas food/drink/fun and everything I think I actually got some decent work done.

So I'll continue on, trying to do the build up through the next 6 weeks (2 cycles).

Thought I'd chat about the snowshoeing though. Holy crap is it a lot of work. My heart rate is so much higher than running. My legs have to work really really hard, but the impact, because of the snowshoe and the displacement over the snowshoes the impact I think is minimal. I haven't been sore after. I've been exhausted, totally exhausted but not feeling the impact.

I'll provide some screen shots of the data.

Here's the running data, broken down into weeks, showing what I did in the week vs. each day. There wasn't a good way to view each event without too many pictures.

And here's the snowshoeing data, most of the time I'm maintaining some sort of jog, but it gets really hard if I'm in fresh snow and it's A LOT OF WORK

I think I'm going to register for this:

It looks like fun,

I also found some interesting reading on snowshoeing, I'll paste them below
