Documentary 'Salute' opens at Sydney Film Festival
Sydney, Australia - Salute, a documentary film about the so-called Black Power Protest on the podium during the medals presentation ceremony for the men's 200m at the 1968 Mexico Olympic Games, premiered to a standing ovation at the annual Sydney Film Festival on Sunday 8 June.
The film is directed by Matt Norman, a nephew of Australian sprint great Peter Norman who won the silver medal behind the phenomenally gifted black American Tommie Smith and just ahead of another US titan of the track, John Carlos.
