Hunt wins 25th Three Peaks and weekend roundup
New Zealand performances locally and from around the world
DUNEDIN
Tom Hunt won the 25th anniversary running of the Three Peaks Mountain Race. Hunt recorded 2h 4m 51s for the 26km tough hilly course over Flagstaff, Swampy Summit and Mt Cargill. Axel Reiser was second with Mike Wakelin third.
Sue Cuthbert won the women's section in 2h 24m 35s.
Aaron Strong holds the race record of 1h 53m 16s set in 1995, while Sarah Chisnall set the women's record of 2h 9m 4s last year.
BEIJING
Tony Sargisson finished 12th in the 50km road walk in Beijing. Sargisson, aiming for the Olympic Games selection time of 3h 57m, recorded 4h 15m 10s.
Sargisson was in control of the race up to 32km and was on target to achieve a qualifying time. However the conditions and hard surface, meant that most of the competitors ended up walking slower than their estimated times.
ZURICH
A week after winning the New Zealand mountain running title, Jonathan Wyatt finished 15th in the Zurich marathon in 2h 23m 6s. Wyatt, aiming for the Olympic selection time of 2h 15m, was through the half-way in 1h 9m 21s. The
