CARSON - CALIFORNIA
Nick Willis finished second to Bernard Lagat over 1500m at the adidas track classic meeting in California. Lagat recorded 3m 35.14s with Willis finishing in 3m 35.75s. Kevin Sullivan of Canada was third in 3m 35.78s. Willis won this race last year in 3m 35.85s.
HUNTLY
Iain MacDonald of Tauranga won his first major road race, with a convincing victory in the annual Huntly half marathon on Sunday.
The 24 year old shook off his twin brother Kyle at 10km passed in 32m 24s and broke clear of Pakuranga's Jonny McKee at 13km to carry on to win in 1h 8m 17s.
MacDonald, who was fourth in the Auckland half marathon last year, took a minute off his personal best.
"At half way I put the hammer down and dropped my brother and I didn't want it to come down to the wire as I haven't got the flashest of finishes so I got rid of Jonny McKee between 13km and 14km, said MacDonald.
"I was starting to feel it though at 19km," he added.
McKee held out Kyle MacDonald by 11 seconds for second in 1h 9m 2s.
Nyla Carroll ran in for her fifth win at Huntly in the women's section, running the fastest time for the course based on Lake Hakanoa, of 1h 15m 19s, knocking 24 seconds off her 2006 time. Carroll first won in 1993.
Tania McGovern of Auckland was a distant second in 1h 20m 50s, just sevens seconds ahead of Philippa Durkin of Tauranga.
Carroll said that she was still feeling a bit tight from her win in the Rotorua marathon.
"I'll now go into a build up for the Auckland half marathon in October, which will make me a Roadster," said the 42 year old. Roadster status is granted to those runners who compete and finish five Auckland half marathons or five full marathons.
WEST EYRETON - CANTERBURY
Phil Costley continued his winning way, taking out the Holloway Memorial 12km cross country race in 37m 23s. Martin Lukes was second in 38m 42s. Sander Kriek was the best of the masters men in 39m 37s. Fiona Crombie back from her recent racing in the States won the women's 8km in 28m 11s. Tracy Crossley won the masters women in 30m 36s.
Sarah McSweeney won the combined W17/18/19 4km in 14m 4s, beating Ruth Croft by 49s. Simon Gannaway won the M17/18/19 8km in 26m 31s with Zach Butler winning the B15/16 8km in 26m 33s.
DUNEDIN

Hill City won the women's relay with Courtney Quirin running 7m 54s for the 2.1km. Shireen Crumpton in the masters relay ran 7m 53s.
MELBOURNE
Rowan Baird of North Harbour scored a notable victory in the Skins Sandown Classic 10km road race in Springvale Victoria on Saturday.
The national 1500m champion ran a personal best time, by two and a half minutes, of 32m 44s, in beating last year's world junior mountain running champion Lara Tamsett of NSW by just over a minute.
"I really enjoyed the cold weather and I felt really good," said Baird.
Her time was the 32nd fastest 10km road time recorded by a woman anywhere in the world this year.
In cold wet conditions Lee Troop of Geelong won the race in 28m 50s, by one second ahead of Michael Shelley of Queensland.
ILLINOIS
Jessica Penney set a Wellington record of 14.13s (+0.6) in the 100m hurdles at the Big Ten Championships at the University of Illinois. Penney bettered the electronic standard of 14.15s.
Penney also competed in the long jump finishing eighth with 6.22m (+1.2).
SWARTHMORE - PENNSYLVANIA
Carl Mackenzie won the 1500m in 3m 47.35s and Hugo Beamish won the 3000m in 8m 16.87s.
NEW YORK
John Henwood was second in the 30-39 age group in the Healthy Kidney 10km road race around Central Park in 31m 20s.
