that Bucher's decision was due to an ongoing illness.

On Sunday February 9, 2003 Tokyo International Marathon,
which doubles as the second qualifying race for the
World Championships men's marathon team, will take
place on the course that is essentially the same as

Indoor : Ethiopia's Adere just misses world record posted 06 Feb
DORTMUND, Germany - Ethiopia's Berhane Adere came
within 87 hundredths of a second from breaking the
women's world indoor 5,000 meters record on Wednesday.
With a time of 14:48.22 seconds, Adere just missed
out on bettering the record of 14:47.35 set on the
same track four years ago by Gabriele Szabo of Romania.

10,000m title - and his race for sporting immortality
will begin in Birmingham this month...
The Ethiopian, arguably the greatest distance runner
of all time, took his second Olympic gold in Sydney
but lost his world 10,000m crown in 2001, before suffering
another defeat on his marathon debut in London last
