Irelands Paul Hession suffered the heart break of missing
the Olympic A standard for the 200m by a mere 0.02 seconds
at the IAAF Grand Prix Meeting in Thessaloníki, Greece
this evening.
Despite being victorious in a top class field, as well as
improving his PB by two tenths of a second, the current World
Student Games silver medallist cannot now be selected of this
time as Paul Brizzel has the A standard from last year.
Elsewhere Gary Ryan ran 21.00 to finish 5th in the same race,
Karen Shinkins took second in the 400m in 52.17,Freda Davoren
took second in the womens 1500m in 4.09.07, Rob Daly and David
McCarthy took third and fourth in the 400m running 46.23 and
46.41 respectively while Belfasts Gareth Turnbull took 8th
in the 1500m in 3.40.41.
