Altitude Training Camp

This section will document the aims and plans of the project and how you can assist in the quicker development.

Up to this point, the Chepkero AC and Homestretch Ministries have operated independent of corporate sponsorship, and this has allowed the club officials to place the interests of the athletes above anything else.  As the club has grown, however, so has the need for outside support or sponsorship, and we ask you to consider joining us as we try to serve our athletes and community.  Following are a few of the special projects with which you can help.

Land Purchase : $1500
The club would like to purchase 1.5 acres on which to build a residential training facility.  A plot of this size will allow the club to produce much of the food they need, and it can also provide aa area for teaching and demonstrating agricultural development techniques.

Construction: $1000 - $1500
Once land has been purchased, it will be necessary to construct buildings to house athletes, for cooking, and a chapel/classroom structure.  It is our desire to construct buildings that will not only be useful to the club, but ones that can also be beneficial to the community as a whole.  These buildings would also be used to host development workshops, AIDS awareness seminars, vocational training, academic workshops for college scholarship prospects and community events.  Your support for this project will be a tremendous benefit to the entire community.

Sponsorship:
We at Chepkero Athletics Club welcome sponsorship inquiries from any interested parties, whether individual or corporate .  You might want to consider sponsoring individual athletes, providing assistance to fund resident tutors for the camp, or many other options.  A commitment of just ten dollars per month can feed, house, and transport an athlete.

Equipment: Donation of the following items can greatly benefit our efforts:
Computer Equipment - we would like to provide basic computer orientation and computer based test preparation. Machines, particularly laptops running at 300Mhz or better would be a real blessing.
Shoes, clothes - they may be old to you, but they're new to us.  Donations of second-hand running shoes and apparel are great.

Volunteers:
Within the next year we hope to be in a position to host and utilize volunteers from abroad who can lend their gifts in person.  From tutoring the athletes, to conducting AIDS awareness sessions for the community, to teaching agriculture, to assisting in local medical clinics; it is very unlikely that we can't find some place for you to plug in and help.  Athletes who wish to come and train while serving are welcome, and we are working to affiliate with a non-profit body in the U.S. to facilitate fund raising activities.  Think about it, and we'll find something for you.

The correct channels have been established to insure that your support is used as effectively as possible.  If you would like to be a part of what we're doing, please contact, Jay Bawcom or send an email to the Editor of Time-to-Run. You are also welcome to include us in your prayers, and you're not required to contact any of us to do this.
