Tomescu-Dita wins against high heat and humidity in Singapore
Singapore - Romania’s Constantina Tomescu-Dita ran three minutes faster than any woman marathoner previously in Singapore, and Joseph Riri won his third marathon in four starts, but times were academic in 30 degree plus temperatures with high humidity for the 13th running of the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon.

You ain't seen nothin' yet- Joyce Chepchumba 26/11
Even with multiple titles from major city marathons under her belt, Joyce Chepchumba says you ain't seen nothin' yet.

At 32 years of age, with two London and two Chicago Marathon wins and the recent New York City Marathon title, among others, under her belt, one might be excused of thinking that Chepchumba perhaps would be considering an 'early' retirement to manage the large financial prize pot which she has accumulated during her lucrative career. Mrashani wins Tokyo marathon Japan Sunday 17th :
Unheralded Banuelia Mrashani of Tanzania shook off a late challenge from local hero Rie Matsuoka to win the Tokyo international women’s marathon in 2:24:59 17/11


Rono wins the Richmond Marathon Canada 09/11 :
Kenyan Elly Rono won the men's marathon at 2:16:02 and Maggie Chan-Roper of Provo, Utah, won the women's race in 2:37:53 today in the 2002 Suntrust Richmond Marathon. .

New York Marathon America Sunday 03rd :
Men : Boston Winner, Rodgers Rop [Kenya] glides to victory in 2:08:07 .. Women : Previous double winner of London, Joyce Chebchumba wins in 2:25:56. [ report ] 04/11

Mexico Marathon : Kenyan, Eenos Ketter, wins in 2:13.44 20/10

Beijing Marathon : China Women Wei Yanan with 2:20:23 NR PB .. Men Li Zhuhong 2:13.09 both athletes were from China 20/10

Amsterdam Marathon Sun 20th : Gete Wami won the women’s race in 2:22.19 - an Ethiopian and course record ... Kenyan Benjamin Kimutai Kosgei wins in 2:07.26 20/10

Chicago USA : Radcliffe shatters World Record with 2:17.18.. Khannouchi takes victory with 2:05.56 [ report ] [ 13/10 ]

Eindhoven Holland : Willy Cheruiyot wins again in 2:10.12 13/10

Asian Games Korea : Lee Bong-Ju won the Asian Games marathon in front of his home crowd. He took the gold with a time of 2:14:04.... [ 13/10 ]

Sydney Marathon Australia Tanzanian Stephen Bwire wins in 2:17.30 Women Australia's Heather Turland wins in 2:51.05 15/09

Cologne Germany : Ernest Kipyego won the Cologne Marathon on Sunday, setting a new record for the event of 2:10.53. The Kenyan, who was not among the favourites, finished 40 seconds ahead of the Tanzanian Andrew Sambu. Kipyego broke the event record, set by the German Carsten Eich, by two seconds.... Claudia Dreher became the first German woman to win the event, finishing in 2:31:30 Countrywoman Ulrike Maisch was 2nd, in 2:32:14 [ 06/10 ]

Brazil 42 SAO PAULO, Brazil : Cordeiro de Lima finished in 2:11:19 -- a new course record -- before falling to his knees and burying his face in Brazil's yellow and green national flag. His victory broke a string of wins for Kenyans....Maria Baldaia [Brazil] won the Women's in a new course record of 2:36:07 [ 14/07 ]

LYON Kenyan Kiptanui wins Lyon marathon : Kenyan Paul Kiptanui won the Lyon marathon here Sunday in a time of 2hr 18min 24sec to beat Tanzanian Stephen Bwire by over two minutes. In the women's race title favourite Maria Fedosseeva led a Russian one-two to win in 2hr 48min 46sec, finishing over seven minutes ahead of Elena Bolkovitina and Odile Ohier of France.

Moroccan Echchadli wins Stockholm Marathon Morocco's My Tahar Echchadli won the Stockholm Marathon in a time of 2:18:20. Alfred Shemweta of Sweden 2nd in 2:20:52. Finland's Jussi Utriainen was 3rd in 2:24.43. Lena Gavelin won the women's race in 2:33:48.

Tarus wins Prague Marathon : PRAGUE, Czech Republic (AP) -- Kenya's Henry Tarus won the Prague International Marathon on Sunday in 2 hours, 11 minutes, 41 seconds. Russia's Alvetina Ivanova won the women's race in 2:32:24. 19 May

Twin Cities Marathon is Full : The Twin Cities Marathon has once again reached its limit of 8,500 participants in record time.

Top U.S. female distance runner enters Chicago Marathon : Deena Drossin, the world record holder in the 5,000-meter road race, will run the Chicago Marathon.

Drossin, who also holds the U.S. records in the 10,000 and 15,000 road races, made her marathon debut last fall in New York, finishing seventh in 2 hours, 26 minutes and 58 seconds. It was the fastest debut by a U.S. woman, and the fourth-best time ever by an American female.
