Welcome to The London Marathon 2002 coverage

London 2002 saw the debut of Haile Gebrselasse and Paula Radcliffe.

The Men's race was meant to be a match up of the old rivals Paul Tergat and Gebrselasse, however the man who stole the show was Khalid Khannouchi. The Moroccan born, naturalised American set a new World Record with a time of 2:05:38.

Radcliffe ran the 2nd fastest marathon for a woman, in winning in 2:18:56.

The fast pace provided for the men pulled a host of athletes behind Khannouchi to Personal Bests [ PB ]
