Rebecca Forlong has broken the long standing New Zealand women's 19 age group 1500m record after running 4m 16.20s in Dublin on Saturday.
Competing in the Dublin International Games at the Morton Stadium in Santry, Forlong clipped one second off Anne Lardner's record set in Hamilton in 1988.
Forlong, formerly from Matamata, now living in Melbourne, finished fourth in the race, won by Sinead Delahunty Evans of Ireland in 4m 13.27s.
On July 16 in Cardiff Forlong set another national 19 record, in the 3000m steeplechase with her winning performance of 10m 18.32s.
Forlong will be competing in the 1500m and 3000m steeplechase at the world university games in Turkey, starting on August 15.
