An unforgettable experience. The Austrian Women's Run leads through the beautiful green Vienna Prater – 5k, 10k or 5k Nordic Walking. The course is flat and perfect for beginners too, there is no time limit. Each finisher is a winner and receives a medal and a rose. The best three of each age group are honoured on stage at Austria's biggest presentation ceremony.

Family & party. Many women and girls run together in teams and just have fun, enjoying themselves and the unique atmosphere. An enthusiastic audience, music and performances guarantee party feeling during the 2-day event and make the Austrian Women's Run a festival for the whole family. Besides there is a special "Kids Run" on June 10, for children between 6 and 12.

Top athletes and international guests

Interesting elite field. Like in the previous year, the organisers Ilse Dippmann and Andreas Schnabl invited many international athletes again: TEGLA LOROUPE from Kenya, who will be honoured with the Austrian Women's Award 2006, ELOISE WELLINGS from Australia, who is world's number 4 on the 5.000m course 2006, the Swedish top runners IDA NILSSON and CHRISTIN JOHANSSON, from Hungary KRISZTINA PAPP and from Italy ROSARIA CONSOLE.

Austrian Women's Award 2006. The Austrian Women's Award was introduced in 2004 – Waris Dirie was the first to receive it – and is awarded to courageous women who are willing to fight for their ideals. This year the award goes to Tegla Loroupe. She is not only one of the most successful long distance runners in the world but also dedicates herself to social activities in her home country Kenya with her Tegla Loroupe Peace Foundation.

Kathrine Switzer returns to Vienna. Last year's award winner Kathrine Switzer, the founder of the world's first women's run and the very first female who officially participated in a marathon, was so impressed by the huge event that she decided to return to Vienna this year and run the 5k course again.

Success Story Women's Run – Be there!

New record! The idea of a women only run in Austria was born in 1986 by Ilse Dippmann, and 2 years later the first Austrian Women's Run took place in Vienna. What began with 270 participants is now the second largest running event in Austria. In 2005 the number exceeded the 10.000-limit for the very first time, and this year it is topped once more: 12.000 participants are expected.

Last Minute Registration. The last chance to register is on June 10 in the Vienna Prater, but the number of participants is limited. Each participant receives a goodie bag filled with presents from the sponsors and an original Nike "Austrian Women's Run T-Shirt" 2006.
