1 Dream. 20 Years. 68.651 Winners.
On June 3rd the Austrian Women’s Run celebrates its 20th anniversery with the motto: “1 Dream. 20 Years. 68.651 Winners." At her first marathon in New York City, Women’s Run-organizer Ilse Dippmann heard of the idea of a women’s run. She then decided to set up a women’s run in Austria too and on June 12th 1988 she gave the starting signal at the very first Austrian Women’s Run. Under the motto: “Everyone wins, no one loses” 440 women started in the competition. The number of participants rose form year to year and in the meantime the Women’s Run with its 12.070 runners last year is not only the second biggest running event for women in Austria, but also one of the most outstanding women’s runs in the world. Since that time 68.651 runners have crossed the finish line and made the Women’s Run become a very special happening. The motto of once is still valid today and on June 3rd thousands of women and girls will once again start in the run to make their personal dream come true.
