26-year-old Sabrina Mockenhaupt (GER), won the 20th Austrian Women's Run in Vienna again, like two years before. Today she was leading the race from the third kilometer, leaving her competitors behind. She ran the 5k in 15:36,6 min. and missed a new course record by just one second.

Her "duelist" Krisztina Papp (HUN), who won last year's race, was not in best shape and was second with 15:44,5. Nathalie de Vos (BEL) reached third place with 15:53,9. Sonia O'Sullivan (IRL), who was also guest for the second time, set herself a time limit of 17 minutes and was happy to run the 5k in 16:48,1 min.

Like in the previous years, the number of participants at the Austrian Women's Run exploded once more: 14.603 women and girls of all ages and nationalities took part in this huge event – which is a more than 20 % increase, compared to 2006.

Stella Deetjen from Germany, who is known for her deep commitment to helping children suffering from leprosy in India, received this year's Austrian Women's Run Award. She was proud and happy to receive a 10.000 Euro donation, which she will use for building a children's home in India.

In the past 20 years Ilse Dippmann, the inventor and organisor of the Austrian Women's Run, made this event the second biggest running event in Austria and one of the most important women's only races in the world, so this year – at its 20th anniversary – it was a very special day. The international atmosphere makes it even more beautiful, and the repeating participation of athletes all over the world is proof enough for the high quality and top-level organisation of this great running event.
