Two of New Zealand's world ranked athletes will be competing at opposite sides of the globe this weekend.
Beatrice Faumuina will be throwing the discus at the opening Telstra A-Series meeting in Canberra and Kimberley Smith will be running the 3000m at the Boston Indoor Games, both on Saturday their time.
Faumuina is up against 19 year old Dani Samuels who pipped her for the bronze medal in the last round at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games. Also in the competition is 15 year old Kimberley Mulhill niece of 1984 Olympic bronze medalist Gael Martin (nee Mulhill).
Smith will follow up her impressive 2000m in Hamilton two weeks ago with a run indoors over 3000m against 2004 Athens Olympic Games 5000m champion and world record holder Meseret Defar of Ethiopia.
Michael Aish will run in the men's 3000m at the Boston Indoor Games.
