The "Dash for Cash" will be a feature of the next round of the Black Singlet series at the Cooks Gardens Classic meeting in Wanganui on Saturday evening.

The pay out in the 5000m could well be a Ruthe benefit, with Ben in the men and Jess in the women. A total of $850 is up for grabs in both races, if the winner also leads through each kilometre of the journey, in the combined race with 3000m competitors.

Dale Warrander should give Ben Ruthe plenty of competition and Jess Ruthe will be competing against Sarah Lynskey.

Leading 3000m runners are Stephen Staehli of Switzerland and the Macdonald twins, Iain and Kyle. Local interest will centre on the run of Hugo Beamish in the 3000m.

Gareth Hyett should keep his winning record this season intact in the 1500m. Tim Hawkes will provide the pacemaking to assist Hyett in achieving a fast time. Hyett showed top form winning the 1500m at the Australian Cup meeting last weekend in Brisbane recording 3m 44.27s in blustery conditions.

Hawkes will also compete in the 400m flat against Andrew Underwood and Sam Rapson.

Kellie Palmer will follow up her victory over 800m in Dunedin with a start in the 1500m against Melissa Moon and Camille Buscomb.

Monique Williams should follow up her win last weekend in Brisbane with another fast time in the 400m.

Craig Bearda is down for the 100m against Carl van der Speck. This pair should also win the 2 x 100m relay.

Chantal Brunner starts in the 100m. April Brough will also compete in the 100m.

Billy Crayford and Balraj Singh will highlight the high jump.

The total prize pool for the meeting, courtesy of Wanganui Inc., is $3500.
