In this section the scientific aspects of various topics that interest runners will be discussed. What do the scientific studies tell us about various training techniques and tapering before races; what is the best drink to use when racing, how much should we be drinking? What is the effect of altitude training; what determines running ability?

Articles on dehydration; drinking too much; heat exhaustion and acclimatisation will all be covered. These and other questions and topics will be examined in the months to come.
