The Beast, sprint power to Shanghai

Yohan Blake - The Beast

Yohan Blake – The Beast

Yohan Blake, “The Beast”,  bringing sprint power to Shanghai

The second fastest man of all time in the 200m, Yohan Blake, will head to Asia for his start of the summer season.  Blake confirmed his participation on the 200m at the Samsung Diamond League in Shanghai, May 18 2013. It will be the first time for “the beast” to come to the Chinese metropolis. The introduction of Blake to the fast track in the Shanghai stadium will be a great sprint spectacle.

With a personal best of 19.26 in the 200 meter, Blake is not only the second-fastest man on the track but still a youngster in the field. The 23-year old Jamaican is seen as one of the most important challengers of the current world records on 100m and 200m. Samsung  Diamond League Shanghai held in the Shanghai Stadium has had very fast sprint results before. With a personal best of 19.26 and  8 races under 20 seconds Blake is a serious threat for the meeting record, currently 19.76 set by Usain Bolt in 2009.

Blake is looking forward to coming to Shanghai: “Returning to China will bring good memories for me. It was in China that I won my first major international medal as a junior athlete at the 2006 IAAF World Junior Championships. Competing in the Samsung Diamond League Shanghai will afford me the opportunity to once again experience the truly magnificent hospitality of the Chinese people. I am looking forward to in return, competing well at the 200m distance”.

The great potential of Blake in combination with the proven fast track in Shanghai will create a fantastic combination for a special night of track and field.
