{"id":13,"date":"2011-05-06T20:18:23","date_gmt":"2011-05-06T20:18:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/canada\/?p=13"},"modified":"2011-05-06T20:18:42","modified_gmt":"2011-05-06T20:18:42","slug":"armstrong-wins-at-doha-diamond-league","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/canada\/news\/armstrong-wins-at-doha-diamond-league.htm","title":{"rendered":"Dylan Armstrong wins at Doha Diamond League"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DOHA, QATAR &#8211; Kamloops, BC\u2019s Dylan Armstrong finished first today in Doha, Qatar at the 2011 Diamond League Opener.\u00a0 The reigning Commonwealth Games champ placed first with a throw of 21.38-metres in the men\u2019s shot put earning him 4 points and the early lead in the race to the Diamond.<\/p>\n<p>Americans Reese Hoffa and Ryan Whiting placed second and third respectively with throws of 21.27 and 21.23-metres.<\/p>\n<p>The next scheduled shot put competition as part of the Diamond League is set for May 26 in Rome, Italy.<\/p>\n<p>Elmore places 9th in the 1500m<\/p>\n<p>Malindi Elmore of Kelowna, BC finished 9th in the women\u2019s 1500-metres clocking in at 4:11.79. Winning the race, and setting a new World Leading time of 4:03.00 was Anna Mishchenko of Ukraine.\u00a0 Second went to Kenya\u2019s Irene Jelagat in 4:04.89 and Siham Hilali of Morocco finished third in 4:05.18.<\/p>\n<p>CBC Broadcast tomorrow<\/p>\n<p>CBC will broadcast and stream action from the Doha Diamond League tomorrow, Saturday May 7, from 14:00-16:00ET.<\/p>\n<p>More on the Diamond League<\/p>\n<p>Each Diamond League discipline is contested in 7 of 14 Diamond League competitions where the top 3 finishers (per discipline\/per competition) receive points.\u00a0 In the final competition points are doubled.
