{"id":1185,"date":"2021-08-17T06:49:40","date_gmt":"2021-08-17T06:49:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/?p=1185"},"modified":"2025-07-11T13:11:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-11T12:11:09","slug":"olomouc-half-marathon-2021-returns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/news\/olomouc-half-marathon-2021-returns","title":{"rendered":"Olomouc half-marathon 2021 returns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Czech &#8211; After two years, the participants of the RunCzech running league could finally get back to their beloved race in Olomouc, which was a proud holder of the gold label for the last 8 years until 2019 and also a crucial part of EuroHeroes project under the badge of European Athletics. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The start from the Holy Trinity column was divided into two waves due to health restrictions with an overall number of 2 791 runners, the overall number of race participants has reached up to 4 000.<\/p>\n<h3>Wonderful running day\u00a0 at Olomouc\u00a0 half-marathon<\/h3>\n<p>The eleventh <a href=\"https:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/events\/half-marathon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">half-marathon<\/a> race edition once again unified all long-distance enthusiasts who jointly filled the Horn\u00ed n\u00e1m\u011bst\u00ed. After a long coronavirus pause, elite and amateur runners attached their starting numbers and enjoyed a great race atmosphere with the huge support of local spectators along the track.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am so happy that this the event offers more than just a single-time race but it is also a social and well-being renaissance for Olomouc and the whole region; again we made thousands of people happy and active which is desperately needed in this period\u201d Carlo Capalbo President of the organizing committee.<\/p>\n<p>The main race brought an interesting and competitive show. Jirka Homol\u00e1\u010d was on the top for a long time, but then he withdrew from the race on the 17th kilometre. Gerron Stewart utilised this opportunity and won the men&#8217;s race with a time of 1:09:39. He was accompanied to the podium with Petr Ho\u0161na (1:11:26), who finished in second place and with Milan Janou\u0161ek (1:12:47), who finished in third place.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#8217;s race, the finish line was ripped by an amazing Hana Homolkov\u00e1 (1:20:24), who is in incredible shape which she has already shown two times this year in the Karlovy Vary half-marathon and at Generali \u010cesk\u00e1 RedRun. The second place occupied Mark\u00e9ta Gajdorusov\u00e1 (1:20:38) and the third place was grabbed by Petra Kam\u00ednkov\u00e1 (1:22:53).<\/p>\n<p>Hot weather was not an obstacle for hundreds of families, who decided to run together a dm family run. This year&#8217;s dm family run was attended by 917 runners. The governor of the Olomouc Region, Josef Such\u00e1nek was the starter of the three-kilometer race, and the mayor of Olomouc city, Miroslav \u017db\u00e1nek got actively participated together with his little son.<\/p>\n<p>The RunCzech running adventure will carry on very soon in \u00dast\u00ed nad Labem.
