High Jump<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Italy&#8217;s leading high jumper Antonietta Di Martino has confirmed that she will go for glory at both the European Athletics Championships and the Olympic Games this summer in a bid to complete her medal collection.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Di Martino, now 33, has won a myriad of medals at major championships but curiously at neither of this summer&#8217;s big events.<\/p>\n<p>She was Italy&#8217;s only athlete to climb the podium at the World Indoor Championships last month, after getting a silver medal in Istanbul.<\/p>\n<p>Di Martino has twice won medals at the outdoor World Championships, including a bronze medal last summer in Daegu and took the top honours at the 2011 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Paris last year.<\/p>\n<p>However, her two previous appearances at the European Athletics Championships have ended in disappointment and that&#8217;s a state of affairs that she wants to rectify this summer in Helsinki.<\/p>\n<p>Six years ago in G\u00f6teborg she finished 10th and, struggling to recover from an injury, she didn&#8217;t make it out of the qualifying rounds at the last edition of the European Athletics Championships in Barcelona two years ago.<\/p>\n<p>She is currently recuperating from a minor thigh injury which occurred while she was warm weather training last week in the Canary islands which will keep her away from the track until mid-May but she is confident that by Helsinki she will be back in top form.<\/p>\n<p>At the 2010 European Athletics Championships, Italy won six medals but went without a victory and Di Martino is among her country&#8217;s best bets to ensure that the Italian national anthem Il Canto degli Italiani rings out across Helsinki.<\/p>\n<p>The 2012 European Athletics Championships will be held in the Finnish capital from 27 June \u2013 1 July.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Italy&#8217;s leading high jumper Antonietta Di Martino has confirmed that she will go for glory at both the European Athletics Championships and the Olympic Games this summer in a bid to complete her medal collection.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":228,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_et_pb_use_builder":"","_et_pb_old_content":"","_et_gb_content_width":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[48,5,1,4],"tags":[66,179,9,20,84,181,486],"class_list":["post-226","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-eurochamps","category-featured","category-news","category-track","tag-66","tag-antonietta-di-martino","tag-championships","tag-european-athletics","tag-helsinki","tag-high-jump","tag-italy"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/226","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=226"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/226\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/228"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=226"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=226"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=226"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
