{"id":448,"date":"2013-04-03T06:11:48","date_gmt":"2013-04-03T06:11:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/?p=448"},"modified":"2017-11-10T10:07:46","modified_gmt":"2017-11-10T10:07:46","slug":"russians-banned-for-doping","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/news\/russians-banned-for-doping","title":{"rendered":"Russians banned for doping"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_449\" style=\"width: 541px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/files\/2013\/04\/kuzenkova.590.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-449\" class=\" wp-image-449 \" src=\"http:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/files\/2013\/04\/kuzenkova.590.jpg\" alt=\"Olga Kuzenkova \" width=\"531\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/kuzenkova.590.jpg 590w, https:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/kuzenkova.590-300x127.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 531px) 100vw, 531px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-449\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Olga Kuzenkova<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Former world and Olympic champions Svetlana Krivelyova and Olga Kuzenkova have been banned for two years each for failing drugs tests after their samples were re-examined, the Russian athletics federation (VFLA) said on Tuesday.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The 42-year-old Kuzenkova, 2004 Olympic champion in the women\u2019s hammer, tested positive at the 2005 world championships in Helsinki, where she also finished first.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKuzenkova has been banned for two years starting from March 27, 2013,\u201d the VFLA said on its website.<\/p>\n<p>The VFLA annulled all her results from Aug 12, 2005 to Aug 11, 2007, meaning she will lose her 2005 world title.<\/p>\n<p>Cuba\u2019s Yipsi Moreno, who finished second in Helsinki, will now get the gold medal.<\/p>\n<p>Krivelyova, 43, who won the women\u2019s shot put gold at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and the 2003 world championships in Paris, failed a test at the 2004 Athens Games.<\/p>\n<p>Krivelyova had already been stripped of the 2004 bronze medal by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) after her sample was re-tested.<\/p>\n<p>She finished fourth in Athens but was promoted to third after her Russian team mate Irina Korzhanenko was stripped of gold after failing a drugs test for the anabolic steroid stanozolol. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steroidal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Steroidal.com<\/a> states stanozolol, otherwise known as Winstrol, is used as a performance enhancing drug (PED) increasing speed, power and recovery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKrivelyova has been banned for two years starting from April 2, 2013.
