{"id":721,"date":"2015-06-18T12:37:03","date_gmt":"2015-06-18T12:37:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/?p=721"},"modified":"2015-06-18T12:50:52","modified_gmt":"2015-06-18T12:50:52","slug":"ea-women-commission-members-named","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/news\/ea-women-commission-members-named","title":{"rendered":"EA women commission members named"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/files\/2015\/06\/Cherry-Alexander.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-724\" title=\"Cherry Alexander of British Athletics\" src=\"http:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/files\/2015\/06\/Cherry-Alexander.jpg\" alt=\"Cherry Alexander of British Athletics\" width=\"580\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Cherry-Alexander.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/europe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Cherry-Alexander-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>President Svein Arne Hansen today announced the names of the 14 women appointed to European Athletics commissions following a restructure of the consulting bodies approved by the Council at its meeting in Oslo last weekend.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have confirmed the appointments of a great group that I am sure will make important contributions to the work and development of European Athletics over the next four years,\u201d said Present Hansen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I am pleased to say that we are sticking by our commitment to bring women into the governing structure of European Athletics and thereby set a strong example for our Member Federations and the clubs around Europe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hansen had earlier announced that the number of commission positions filled by women had increased by 6% to 25% of the total.<\/p>\n<p>The appointments by commission are:<\/p>\n<p>Events &amp; Competition Commission &#8211; Cherry Alexander (GBR), Galia Puhaleva (BUL) and Anna Ricardi (ITA).<br \/>\nMember Federation Development Commission &#8211; Ana Lukovic (SRB) and Charlotte Svensen (NOR).<br \/>\nStrategic Communications Commission &#8211; Olga Aksyonova (UKR), Sylvia Barlag (NED), Sirje Lippe (EST) and Ieva Staponkute (LTU).<br \/>\nMedical &amp; Anti-Doping Commission &#8211; Tiia Kuuranne (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/forums\/suomi\" target=\"_blank\">FIN<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Ivet Lalova (BUL), Hanna-Maari Latvala (FIN), Isabelle Pedersen (NOR) and Dana Veldakova (SVK) were elected by their fellow athletes to the Athletes Commission at last summer\u2019s European Athletics Championships in Zurich.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEuropean Athletics has been working to raise awareness and promote women leaders at all levels of our sport for some years through our Women\u2019s Leadership Awards, a number of innovative seminars and other measures,\u201d said Hansen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was really gratifying to see how many federations responded to these efforts and saw fit to nominate women for positions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>European Athletics is in the process of contacting all nominated Commission members to get their confirmation.
