How to get a Big Swede running fast! - Big Swede - 05-03-2009

Time to report:

Day 1: 11,68k 1:02:28(5:21/k) AHR138 MHR153

Day 2: 5,85k 32:31(5:34/k) AHR132 MHR146

Day 3: 400m track, very windy today, head on down one of the straights.

1. 4:19 143 152
2. 4:13 156 158 8:32 RestHR 106

Total: AHR 148 MHR 159

The first two felt ok but the third was a struggle. On fourth my legs were dead meat and I had to struggle just to finish the session.

My last 5x2k had AHR148, the same as today!Sad I´m very disapointed and feel like I´m developing backwards. :confused:

Beginnig to wonder if this program is for me?

Big Swede, in truth you should not have done the session in the wind, would probably have been better off leaving it for another day or doing the session on a treadmill.

athletes become so hard on themselves too easily and want to abandon things too easily .. this program works and it will work for you

your training and circumstances have been inconsistent for the past 2 to 3 weeks, don't read into the program when aspects in life are out of balance as the circumstances affect the body and person

right this off as experience and look forward

continue with the program and run no further than 1hr for the long run on the weekend .. run at a pace of up to 155 bpm

by the 1000's come Tuesday things should be different

Good luck and be positive, its the only way forward

Dont think the wind matter that much, problem is more that the legs are not strong enough to carry my weight. Stronger legs or less weight is the answer.

I dont read it into the program I just wonder if I will be able to get the most out of the program considering my training and circumstances?

155bpm :confused: do you mean 135bpm?

Onwards and forwards

and yes, up to 155 bpm

working on the idea that at a quicker pace you will be more efficient thus reducing the various mechanical defects that occur when running at a slower pace

ideally you should be tired from the run and not tired legs due to weight and size

start off and build up the pace never going over 155 bpm

and Good Luck .. maintain a positive frame of mind ..

remember when reading things on the internet it may come across differently .. my whole approach is positive and don't allow the mind to plant seeds of doubt

Today I did the Day 7 relaxed 10k:

53:15(5:20) AHR139 MHR152

It felt ok for the first 8k and than a little heavier than usuall in the last 2k.

Maybe I should rest tomorrow and do the intervals on wednesday?
