My 21k Training - Ciaran - 09-11-2015

End of year update, I suppose!

So Ed, I did 3 sub 1:45 halves this year plus some tough Tough Mudders. The halves were all generally good, the best being 1:42.45. September and October were pretty quiet for me so I just started back out properly this week and it's been slow to say the least but it feels very rewarding. It almost feels like starting from scratch but I know within a week or so I'll be getting some decent distance back up even if the times aren't there.

I've decided that next May I want to do a full marathon. Do I still follow the 10k training program or do I need to do a different routine? I think for the next few weeks that will suffice for me to get me back into some sort of shape, or what do you think?

great Ciaran, nice to see you going well

as for the marathon, you will need to start increasing the long run while using the 10k training program to start with, so that when you move towards marathon training with 6 weeks before the marathon, you able to switch to doing 30k runs comfortably

hope that helps

Thanks for the quick response.

I'll stick to the normal cycle as it is for 2 rotations over the holiday period to try and get myself back up to close to where I was and then I'll check back in at the start of January to see what I can change.
