So far so good! Legs still feeling strong over the last week

6x1kR60 (Track) on Weds

3:18
3:16
3:15
3:14
3:15
3:12

Then paced 5k today (Sat) in 16:57 after a 4h hard bike, felt pretty relaxed.

Weight is around 79kg, so hopefully can drop a bit by eating sensibly all week next week before the 10k on Sunday.

First big race is going to 70.3 Mallorca in May. I haven't really thought through a plan of attack yet... we should definitely chat!

remember you need to train up for 6 weeks at a time and then come down, you have to try plan your blocks or else you become more open to injury

do make contact to chat

Yes I had my down period about 4 weeks ago so should be ok to go hard on Sunday then wind down a little before building into first sprint tri in April!

3x1600 at track today:

5:14
5:12
5:10

Weight: 79kg

Not quite as relaxed as I would have liked but it was pretty windy. Planning easy 10k tomorrow. Tempo Thurs, then 6x1min on Fri before Sat rest.

No idea where I'll come in on the 10k.

Sub 35 - TheEd - 05-02-2014

strangely enough you should be around sub 34

which I think would please you

TheEd

Sub 35 - jamieh - 06-02-2014

Haha - you tease me! I would be not only pleased but mystified if I managed to pull out a sub-34. Particularly as 30mph wind forecast Wink

20min tempo today in the wind/rain at 3:29 pace.

Felt pretty good.... 6x1min tomorrow then rest before game day.

Contrary to belief, there is not much I can do about the weather Wink

enjoy the race Saturday

33:51 you were right! Smile (33:36 on my Garmin actually... which would be a pb... I think the course was about 70m long)

Incredibly happy with the race this morning considering 25mph wind, only one cycle on the program and 78kg! Maybe sub-16 5k still on the cards this winter??

Will try to grab you for a chat next week to discuss plans moving towards Tri season. Feeling quite optimistic about it all now Wink

Actually - question: I'm thinking of having a crack at a 5k on 21st Feb (12 days from tomorrow) what sessions would you recommend between now then? Bearing in mind after the 5k I'll be skiing for 1 week (so just some easy running in the mornings) then have a half marathon (flat, competitive) on 9th March which is a key race (to set me up for IM 70.3 in May).

Cheers,
J

TheEd
ps.. congrats

Sub 35 - jamieh - 13-02-2014

Thanks TheEd Smile

Recovery has gone well over the past couple of days. Been eating too much but no surprises there Wink

5x2k today at the track.

6:46
6:46
6:48
6:46
6:42

Weight: 79kg

Super windy (20mph) on an exposed track so tried to just keep it measured and didn't focus to much on the times. Pleased with the session considering!

6x1k yesterday at the track

3:15
3:13
3:14
3:16
3:13
3:12

Weight: 78kg
Weather: Light wind

All moving in the right direction. Planning to go for a reasonable 5k on Saturday (albeit after a heavy night out after my birthday Wink) then just easy running for a week in the Alps before I come back and prep for the HM in March...
