Toronto set for Canadian 10km Championships & Timex National Series Finale
OTTAWA - The 2010 Canadian 10km Championships will take place this Saturday October 16 hosted in partnership with the Canadian Running Series’ Oasis Zoo Run in Toronto. The event also serves as the Timex National Road Race Series Finale.
Elites vying for the 10K title
Calgary’s Malindi Elmore and Edmonton’s Megan Wright are expected to battle it out for the second consecutive year to determine who will claim the 2010 crown. Both Elmore and Wright have had their turns taking this title; Elmore is the reigning champ while Wright is looking to re-gain her 2007 title. Also bringing in some tight competition will be Cambridge, Ontario’s Carmen Douma-Hussar in her first Canadian 10km Championship.
With the top three 2009 contenders out of this year’s race, the men’s field is left open for a new champion. Strong hopefuls include Richard Mosley of Burnaby, BC who placed 4th in 2009 and Dylan Wykes of Kingston, ON who placed 5th; Wykes also holds the 2007 Canadian 10km Championship crown. Rob Watson of Guelph, ON is another contender to keep an eye on; Watson was a member of the 2009 World Championship team in the steeplechase.
More on the Timex Series Finale

Athletes and provincial teams who have qualified for the Finale through their provincial Timex Series will converge in Toronto vying for individual and team titles (men’s, women’s and overall).
