\"Connemara<\/a><\/p>\n

The fourteenth Connemara International Marathon took place on Sunday April 12th last. The event attracted over 3,000 runners from 29 countries worldwide, taking part in the three races \u2013 the half, full and ultra-marathon.<\/p>\n

The Men’s marathon was won by Eddie Blanchard in 2:48:07, while the stand out performance was undoubtedly Mary Laverty who finished 3rd overall with her time of 2:57:41, to easily claim the Women’s title<\/p>\n

The event was a huge success with happy runners and walkers being cheered on by the huge turnout of spectators. As the busses carrying thousands of runners neared Connemara<\/a> on the morning of the event, the sun broke through with a spectacular sheet of white snow on the rugged mountain tops of Connemara, adding to the atmosphere of the day.<\/p>\n

All three races went without any problems bar a few muscle strains which our fantastic medical team promptly looked after. The post-race atmosphere was magical and the runners returned to their hotels and homes in a jovial mood.
