One month to go, Kawauchi aims for Venice win

Yuki Kawauchi for Venice Marathon

Italy – In one month, on 28thOctober, the Huawei Venicemarathon will blow out 33 candles, and one of the special guests will be the marathon runner Yuki Kawauchi, who will try to become the first Japanese to win in the lagoon.

Yuki Kawauchi seeks Venice Marathon win

Yuki Kawauchi – “I want to be the first Japanese runner to win in Venice”

There is great expectation for this athlete, a real idol in Japan and a model for many fascinated marathon runners, not only for his feats, but also because he is a normal man, an employee who works 8 hours a day and every Sunday runs a marathon because it is more stimulating than a workout. Kawauchi has conquered everyone because he won the Boston Marathon last April in extreme conditions and attempts to run 100 marathons under 2h20′. Venice will be his 87th 42k race in his career and his first race in Italy:

“I have always heard good things about this marathon – says Kawauchi – and I would like to become the first Japanese to win it. This year the summer in Japan was really hot and this has influenced my training but now, with the arrival of cool weather, I returned to run regularly and in Venice I want to finish below 2h10′. I cannot wait to taste Italian cuisine and your tiramisu: food and marathon will make this weekend unforgettable”.

His presence will certainly be a stimulus for all the members of the Huawei Venicemarathon and will be a draw for those who are still undecided.

The “Huawei Venicemarathon Bus Express” promotion is still available: that is the special “all-in-one” package which offers the transportation by bus from different Italian cities, together with the registration for the race (42K or 10K), the accommodation in a 4-star hotel with various types of room and many other services that facilitate the logistics of the runners before and after the race.

Moreover, this year it will be advantageous to travel by train to Venice and Mestre with the Frecce of Trenitalia (Freccia Rossa, Freccia Argento and Freccia Bianca) offering a 30% discount on round-trip tickets in the period between 26 and 30 October. Moreover Trenitalia, “official train” of the 33rd Huawei Venicemararhon, from this year will adapt the departure times and arrival at the Mestre station of some trains (Rovigo, Vicenza, Bassano, Conegliano, Trieste and Portogruaro) to allow runners to take the last shuttles that leave to Stra, and will offer a 50% discount on round-trip tickets to all runners who travel on regional trains.

The 33rd Huawei Venicemarathon will always be an excellent opportunity to run and raise funds thanks to the Venicemarathon Charity Program, combining the sporting gesture with a donation for one of one of the NPOs that participate in the initiative. Right now, over 16,000 euros have already been collected and the great champion Alex Zanardi is once again a testimonial of the project.
