Kiprotich Kurui, of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/kenya\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kenya<\/a>, became the first runner of the Tallinn Marathon to break the 2:10 barrier.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Tallinn Marathon 2017 provides a Kenyan 123<\/h3>\n<p>From the start, the Kenyan trio of Kirui, Dickson Terer and Robert Magut set a brisk pace which would set the winner up for new course record.<\/p>\n<p>The cool weather conditions, now doubt contributed, in assisting the fast pace, as the trio kept a high tempo through the first 10km. As the race progressed, Kirui began to build a gap between himself and his compatriots as he galloped away to a Personal Best and another marathon win.<\/p>\n<p>Terer returned a 2:17:30 for 2nd place, while Magut slowed to a 2:21:30, still good enough for 3rd, well clear of the first Estonian athlete Argo Joesoo, 4th in a time of 2:28:15<\/p>\n<p><strong>Estonia go 1 2 in race to Tallinn Marathon Women&#8217;s title<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From the off-set local runners,&nbsp; Olga Andrejeva&nbsp; and Moonika Pilli, made their intentions clear, lining up close to the front, the pair jumped out together, with a group soon forming around the two.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/marathon\/tallinn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/women-tallinn2017.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-876\" title=\"women - tallinn marathon 2017\" src=\"http:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/marathon\/tallinn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/women-tallinn2017.jpg\" alt=\"women - tallinn marathon 2017\" width=\"580\" height=\"387\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/marathon\/tallinn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/women-tallinn2017.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.time-to-run.com\/marathon\/tallinn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/women-tallinn2017-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The two were locked together for much of the scenic course, before Olga Andrejeva edged ahead to win in a time of 2:51:06, followed Moonika Pilli in 2nd place in 2:53:21.<\/p>\n<p>Finland&#8217;s Ulla Huopaniemi grabbed 3rd place, just failing to break sub 3hr with 3:02:18.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Busy weekend for Benard Korir<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kenya&#8217;s Benard Korir, kept himself busy in Tallinn, by winning the 10km on Saturday evening in 29:46 before coming out on Sunday to win the half marathon in 64:44.<\/p>\n<p>Estonia&#8217;s Jekaterina Patjuk recorded a respectable 75:17 in winning the Tallinn Women&#8217;s Half Marathon title.<\/p>\n<p><strong>World Record in Guinness Book of Records&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Estonia&#8217;s Marti Medar bounced himself into the Guinness Book of Records by bouncing two basketballs around the marathon course&nbsp; in an incredible time of 3:54.16.<\/p>\n<p>All in all, the Tallinn Marathon, Half Marathon and 10km, as well as the Friday evening&#8217;s youth run over 5km.<\/p>\n<p>The city of Tallinn put on a successful weekend of events<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tallinn Marathon2017 Results<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Men:<br \/>\n1.
