\"Auckland<\/a> The Auckland marathon has a new sponsor, ASB Bank, and will be using the harbour bridge for all the events associated with the marathon and half marathon.<\/p>\n

New Auckland Management<\/h3>\n

Up till now the quarter marathon has run up and down Tamaki Drive to Okahu Bay but from this year\u2019s event on 2 November it will be run over the harbour bridge.
\nAlso the marathon has been acquired by Ironman who run the Auckland Ironman 70.3 in January and the Taupo Ironman in March. Geoff Meyer the CEO of Ironman Asia and Pacific is excited about having the marathon under his umbrella of events and the ASB sponsorship that will run for three years. \u201cIt\u2019s fantastic there are so many good synergies between what we do for Ironman. We\u2019ve grown the team and we\u2019ve got a new office in Auckland. There\u2019s a real buzz about being involved,\u201d he said. \u201cThis year is about learning and understanding and getting the nuances of it all and then we can really start to put our teeth into it and the ASB is going to be a fantastic partner to do it with.\u201d Meyer also wants to build on the status the Auckland marathon has globally. \u201cIt is one of the top ten marathons in the world and for this event to be recognised as one of the top city marathons in the world is just fantastic, up there with the likes of London, Boston and Paris is just great. We want to keep that reputation and grow more. We want everyone when they think about a marathon, Auckland comes up in the back of their minds as well and that\u2019s our goal for the future,\u201d said Meyer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
