Wilson, who has spent some time in Melbourne leading up to the race, sliced 16 seconds off his previous best recording 8m 7.90s.<br \/>\nTim Stewart was 14th in 8m 37.13s. Kara Macdermid from Palmerston North was third in the junior women\u2019s 3000m in 9m 59.82s. Hugo Beamish was the best of the New Zealanders in the Zatopek 10,000m finishing eighth in 29m 3.75s, Aaron Pulford was 11th in 29m 26.66s and Tim Hodge DNF. Liam Mitchell was sixth in the 400m in 51.10s.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>DUNEDIN<br \/>\nNew Zealand Secondary Schools Track &amp; Field Championships, Caledonian Stadium \u2013 7\/\/9 December 2012<br \/>\nAt the New Zealand secondary schools championships in Dunedin national records were set by Matthew Bloxham who added over two metres to his New Zealand M16 and M17 hammer record with a throw of 73.47m, Nicholas Southgate equalled the M18 pole vault record of 5 metres for the third time and Siositina Hakeai improved her W18 discus throw record by 10cm to 56.27m. Eliza McCartney equalled the performance standard of 3.85m for selection to the world youth championships in Donetsk Ukraine next year. Talia Horgan with a time of 55.14s in the 400m and Rosa Flanagan recording 9m 38.26s in the 3000m also posted qualifying performances for the world youth championships. Horgan\u2019s previous best time of 55.35s was run at last year\u2019s secondary schools championships in Wellington. Flanagan best 3000m is 9m 31.81s set in Timaru last month. Schools records went to Matt Baxter with 8m 15.50s in the 3000m and Jesse Bryant equalling the long jump record with 7.36m (+1.6). Baxter\u2019s previous best 3000m was 8m 19.91s in Palmerston North last month and Bryant has a best long jump of 7.49m.<\/p>\n<p>AUCKLAND<br \/>\nACA Open Meeting, Kings College Otahuhu \u2013 5 December 2012<br \/>\nIsaac Tatoa 60m 6.69s. Luke Mangan 2kg discus 35.40m and 5kg hammer 39.00m. Tom Quinn 5kg hammer 47.87m, 5kg shot 12.41m and 1.5kg discus 36.12m. Tim Girling-McLean 5kg shot 15.81m and 1.5kg discus 40.19m.<\/p>\n<p>USA<br \/>\nIndoor Meeting, Princeton University \u2013 9 December 2012<br \/>\nJulia Ratcliffe now based at Princeton University in New Jersey, broke the Ivy League record in winning the women\u2019s 20lb weight throw with a throw of 19.58m. Diana Harbuz 20m 23s.<\/p>\n<p>Taupo<br \/>\nNutri-Grain Taupo Half Ironman, 8 December: News from the event from an athletic perspective was the promising debut in a triathlon by twice national 3000m steeplechase champion Brett Tingay. The 32 year old finished a creditable 10th in 4h 33m 4s, after a 30m 33s 2km swim, 2h 30m 35s 90km cycle and a 1h 26m 46s 21.1km run. (The additional 5m 10s was the time during the various transition stages). Tingay said that there were definitely three distinct races within the event and even though it was strength sapping it was a very good exercise.<br \/>\n\u201cI found it hard to use my strength at the end of the race. It was really enjoyable an awesome day.
