Although challenged early by Brett Hales, the current XTERRA U.S. Trail Run Champion, Smyth was out-of-sight by the halfway point and crossed the line more than three-minutes ahead of Hales.<\/p>\n<p>Mattox, who is from Bend, Oregon and was an All-American steeplechaser at the University of Oregon, was the first female and placed sixth overall with a time of 1:32:34.
