I didn't have the patience to do a proper warm-up and just got going. I tried to run faster than last week since one of my device seemed to be suggesting that I only made it into zone three for a small portion of my run, which surprised and disappointed me. I did manage to run the first two kms faster than last week, but I knew it would struggle to keep it up so I came in a bit early, running 5.19 km rather than 6.26. However, my average pace did increase to 5.34 (from 5.44 for last week's slightly longer run). I think this is probably my best 5k time for about four years.
My splits were: 5.33; 5.31; 5.38; 5.27; 5.41; and 5.22 for the last 0.19.
Zones and heart rate is all a bit confusing. Probably the most trustworthy indicator is my Oura ring that has my heart rate between 145 and 170 during the run with an average heart rate of 166. My resting heart is around 50.

slept ok. Although I always hope I will sleep better after a run, it does not usually work out that way - body either still too fired up or muscles too tired! But it was OK. I don't feel too bad today although I can feel the run in my legs. I have yoga at 10.00 which should be nice. But currently no other exercise planned for today or tomorrow and then tennis on Sat although the weather forecast is not great. If there is too much rain for tennis on sat am, I could run on Sat. I had thought I might run on Sunday but I forgot that I had agreed to meet a friend, go for a long walk and have a pub lunch!
I take it from your comment that you might suggest that one day I do a run at something other than maximum effort level - well, it has never happened before, so maybe now is a good time to start :-)
