As the necessary funds could not be acquired in time the ASA ad Hoc Committee was compelled to make the decision that the SA Cross Country Team of twenty four members will not participate in the CAA Africa Championships. Federations were responsible for travelling costs at own cost.
This decision should not affect participation of SA teams in other forthcoming Inter National Event as financial support by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) is available.
The Committee apologise for any inconvenience cause by this late announcement.
