Half marathon training - Héctor - 28-10-2011

Hi. I was planning to do the 4 o 5x2 k yesterday night, but I couldn't (pretty complicated week, only ran on tuesday morning). Having into account I plan to race a 10k on sat. 5, and not done any specific work, what would you suggest me to do up to then?

Héctor

ps. been reading about your new place. Hoping everything goes fine. Maybe we can communicate in spanish soon

Half marathon training - TheEd - 28-10-2011

you could consider doing a paced run over the weekend .. projected 10k pace for 5km

then switch to the last week of the cyle before the race

enjoy

Hi TheEd. Completed my 10k race in 43:42, not the result I was hoping for, but to be expected from my lack of training in the last 2 months. I had almost forgotten how hard is to run a 10k (my last was almost a year ago).

I will run another 10k in two weeks, shall I do the first 2 weeks of the cycle or first and third?

Regards,

Héctor

it will come back together .. marathon training does take one away from the 10k intensity

first and third should be OK however 2nd and 3rd may be more enjoyable

Hi. Only ran on sunday 50' easy and then yesterday night did the 6x1k. (splits http://connect.garmin.com/splits/127829464). Having changed the days, shall I do the paced 5k on the weekend?

Half marathon training - TheEd - 11-11-2011

rather not do the paced run this time round so as to avoid a 'setback'

enjoy the running without pressure for now

have a good weekend

Half marathon training - Héctor - 20-11-2011

Hi TheEd. Yesterday ran the other 10k (9,8 actually) I was planning. Very disappointed with my time, 46 min 54sec. It was a little hot (27º/28º) and with a strong headwind in most of it. I know I didn't have a proper preparation, but the worst was my negative mindset, hence the result. I had to take some walking breaks during the race.

Rgds.

this is one of the factors of running a marathon .. the after-effects can linger on

look forward it does get better

My last week was like this

Sat. 12,3 k in 1h 10' splits: http://connect.garmin.com/splits/128220440

Tue 10x400 ((2k warm-up) splits: http://connect.garmin.com/splits/128970136

Wed 7.8 k in 43,5' splits:
http://connect.garmin.com/splits/129151050

Thu 45' including 6x1' fartlek splits: http://connect.garmin.com/splits/129327296

I think that maybe I overdid on the 10x400m (I'm feeling very sprightly on shorter distances but lacking of endurance)
