RE: Goal to Improve Parkrun - TheEd - 24-01-2026

HI Neil .. don't get too fixated on the time, it will all fall together once the cycles become consistent

no probs in trying the session on the track but as mentioned, don't stress too much about it

How are you finding the Monday 'longish' run

Thanks Gavin I ran my slow tempo last Monday with a 10K up in the Vineyards, ran 1:09'48 in 6'40 s at around 135BPM which sounds high but the hills justify the effort. I skipped Wednesdays speed interval session as I have my sister here and we have been doing a bit of local travelling so apologies for not posting.

This morning I ran my home Parkrun on the new summer route and quite enjoyed it despite the slowish time of 25'44, the course is quite a bit tougher with a big long hill that you run twice and an elevation gain and fall of over 100 vert meters over the 5 Kays. Will get the program back on track and complete the sessions this week.

Hurry back Neil .. all is forgiven Smile

will drop you a message for latest update, I noted you had run 25:20+ at a recent parkrun and it would be good to get things going again

Hi Gavin, please forgive the lack of response and not posting. I have had my sister here from the UK for three weeks and its put a bit of a spanner in the training works. I did however run my Intervals yesterday as opposed to Wednesday and they werent great but were manageble under the circumstances.

1st K 4'49 @ 144 BPM felt okay on the dirt road and managed despite my overindulgence over the past few days.

2nd K moved to tar and ran 5'18 @ 142 BPM quite sluggish but okay with it.

3rd K 4'55 @ 143 BPM knowing that this was the final segement went hard at it and only managed to sneak a sub 5.

I am now fully committed and back on track with the program and looking forward to the incremental improvements which I know are just around the corner. the next few weeks are going to be focussed and filled with running meaning and intention so that we can achieve that goal of 1st a sub 25 minute parkrun and then work on taking it back down to a sub 23 in the not too distant future.

Thank you for your understnding.

RE: Goal to Improve Parkrun - NeilJ - 09-02-2026

Ran Saturday Parkrun and felt a bit lethargic, so deliberately took it easy in 26'14.4. Ave HR was up at 151 BPM I assume that this is largely due to too many late nights recently, which thankfully have now come to and end and I can get back into the rhythm of proper running within the program.

RE: Goal to Improve Parkrun - NeilJ - 10-02-2026

Ran my longish slow tempo run yesterday up on the farm and what a pleasure it was. The route is only around 10K but its got almost 450m of vert gain. Total running time was 1:05'57 and although my Hr seems high@ 149BPM this was largely due to the terain.
