Hi ed,
did the 2k runs today. Unfortunately I only completed 3. I just didn't feel like I could it today. I started the 4th but gave up after a minute. Pretty disappointed because I know it says finish the session regardless of how slow you go. Anyway this was the session.
2k warm up 9:55
1st run 3:32/3:56 = 7:28 max 154 recovery 102
2nd run 3:40/3:37 = 7:17 max 153 recovery 106
3rd run 3:44/4:11 = 7:55 max 152 recovery 102

4k war down 21 minutes

Hi Joe, check your am pulse to see that you are not coming down with something and maybe consider having a few days on the 'off time' schedule to re-stimulate you

the 2k session is a monster session and will always be, try to find some training partners long-term as it shares the pain

please let me know how things go

Turns out I was sick. So after a day of vomit and a few days of diarhoea I am definitely missing the spirit of christmas. Have wisely decided to call it quits this week and I will see how I go next week. Hopefully I can run the race next week but I'm setting no goals. Once I'm back up and running their are no races planned for January/ february would it make sense to take a break and try a build up period?

here's to you bouncing back without too many hiccups

you can look to run every 2nd day once you feel up to running

here's to a good festive season and then onwards and forwards

Ok, think I've shaken off the xmas hump. Mostly taken it easy with about 10 runs in the last 3 weeks. Plan to run a 5k parkrun on saturday to see where I'm at and take it from their.

Ran an ok time for the parkrun. 18:32, although my garmin had the course at 4.88k's, so my real time would have been closer to 19 minutes. I would like to give it another go in two weeks so the plan is to start off with the 35 minute plan on tuesday. 2k's @ 3:50 and the 1k's @ 3:40. The only change would be the long run on saturday which I was going to give myself as an additional rest day as I will be off 2 nights and I have found I have neither the energy or the enthusiasm to do anything after I finish. The race would be in place of the paced 5k but would also be the conclusion of that cycle. What do you think?

sounds good Joe .. keep me informed as to how the training goes

are you affected by the current weather?

Cheers

No, seem to have avoided the snow. Cold as hell with a wee bit of ice but otherwise all good.
Day 1 - 14.56k / 1:12:50 / Avg hr 124
Day 2 - 6.18k / 30:47 / 129
Day 3 - 5 x 2k sub 3:50/k 90R

1: 3:48/3:48 = 7:36
2: 3:50/3:47 = 7:37
3: 3:46/3:47 = 7:33
4: 3:44/3:47 = 7:31
5: 3:41/3:42 = 7:23
Avg Hr 152.
Felt ok, not easy but not a killer either. On nights now, looking forward to my bed in 7 hours.

that is a decent enough session .. as long as you can tick over without having problems you should be assured of getting into decent form again

enjoy the weekend (and sleep)
