10k race in 6 weeks, trying to set goal - EBFM - 13-08-2013 TheEd, Got a little under the weather following our last exchange, so now looking for some guidance. Last Wednesday it was a struggle just to get through 30min easy... Thursday went for the 2k's anyway and ended up committing the ultimate sin of bailing after 3 intervals. Laid low with no running until today when I did an easy 10k and felt pretty comfortable, ready to get going again. Should I pick back up on schedule (1k's tomorrow), or make some adjustments? Still planning on a 5k race Aug. 25. Cheers, EBFM 10k race in 6 weeks, trying to set goal - TheEd - 13-08-2013 go through with the 1k session the 2k's are tough and show the person's level of fitness onwards TheEd ps.. are you OK now? 10k race in 6 weeks, trying to set goal - EBFM - 13-08-2013 Yes, feeling about back to normal, thank you. 1k session was a little faster than last time, so hopefully this past week proves to be a minor setback. Maybe even some benefit from the rest... Splits from today were 3:43,3:44,3:43,3:42,3:42,3:33. Cheers 10k race in 6 weeks, trying to set goal - TheEd - 15-08-2013 nice EBFM good to hear you rolling back TheEd 10k race in 6 weeks, trying to set goal - EBFM - 16-08-2013 Hi TheEd Easy runs the last couple days, feeling good. Quick question - what should the strategy be for tomorrow's 5k paced run, given that the race the following weekend is 5k, not 10k. I think I'll be aiming for something like 18:30 for 5k race. 10k race in 6 weeks, trying to set goal - TheEd - 17-08-2013 you can run 3k at desired race pace for next Saturday's 5k warm up 2k and then finish running the last 3k at pace hope this makes sense TheEd 10k race in 6 weeks, trying to set goal - EBFM - 18-08-2013 Hi TheEd, Yep, makes sense. I went out for two easy k's (5:08,5:12), then picked up to race pace (3:40,3:46,3:41). Goal was 3:42/k. Starting to feel like real running - like I'm actually running fast for sustained periods, as opposed to jogging. Of course "fast" is relative, but for me to be stringing together sub 6-minute miles feels pretty good ![]() Cheers, EBFM 10k race in 6 weeks, trying to set goal - TheEd - 20-08-2013 as long as you able to balance everything, the results will come TheEd 10k race in 6 weeks, trying to set goal - EBFM - 21-08-2013 Good 400m session yesterday (86,82,82,81,80,80,79,80,79,78). Planning the usual run down to the weekend from here, but it looks as though I won't be able to run the 5k race I had planned (heading out of town). I could sub in a 5k time trial, maybe on the track if that seems like a good idea, and try to lower my best. I've also been wanting to test myself on a 1-mile time... Any thoughts? 10k race in 6 weeks, trying to set goal - TheEd - 08-11-2013 EBFM .. where are you and how are running and life things going? TheEd |
