Sub 35 here we come - marco - 30-05-2013

Hi theEd,

Between work being busy and the cold I had didn't get out running till two days ago so decided I would start another cycle on Tuesday. I felt pretty ok up until I tred to do the 5x2k session today.

I hit the first interval on time (i.e. just under 7:28) but then the 2nd and 3rd got slower and on the 3rd just felt lethargic and didn't have the energy to push like I normally do. Anyway decided to pull the plug on the session and call it a day. I didn't get a great nights sleep over the last few nights and it didn't help that today was much hotter than it has been all year

Thinking I'll just take it easy for the rest of the week with some easy runs and come back to it early next week. I'll catch up on some sleep this weekend and should be back to normal to start again next week.

Hi TheEd,

Well I started back into another cycle of the programme last Tuesday. Summer has finally arrived and I'm definitely not used to running in temperatures above 20 degrees!

Yesterday I did the 5x2km session on the road, found it hard at times with the heat but felt it was good effort all the same, I've recorded it in 1km lap times and then final 2km time.

1. 03:43.6 03:40.8 07:24.4

2. 03:44.4 03:43.0 07:27.4

3 03:45.6 03:44.1 07:29.7

4 03:44.7 03:39.0 07:23.7

5 03:41.4 03:39.8 07:21.2

Session went better than last effort so at least thats a step in the right direction as it felt I was going a bit backwards after my last 10k race!

Hi theEd,

Things have been pretty busy for me over the last week so haven't had time to update. Also have been missing some of the easy runs but have made sure to keep up with the interval sessions.

1km intervals went as follows:

Again felt strong throughout but was working very for the last one

03:32.5
03:30.8
03:29.4
03:30.6
03:28.5
03:27.4

Last Sat I did the 5km paced run over a rolling course in 18:45 felt strong through it but had to work a bit in the last km

Today I was back doing the 400m interval and these are starting to feel easier than when I first started the programme, however by the time I'm doing the last 3 I'm wishin for it to be over! First 5 I tried tp keep steady and then push the 2nd five.

3:25 min/km is 1:22 pace

01:19.9
01:19.9
01:19.7
01:20.7
01:21.0
01:19.6
01:18.6
01:19.2
01:17.2
01:15.9

I had originally planned to do a marathon at the end of October however as I've been enjoying this programme and esepcially the progress I might continue with it instead. Its also less time consuming that a marathon programme so its kind of suiting me better at the moment
