do you understand the cycles better now and what needs to be done to balance your training? One of the most difficult things to do for most is to back off at the right time

Thanks TheEd,

I feel like I'm always getting a better feel for the cycles. But I could use some clarification on backing off at the right time. Do you mean in response to illness/injury, or in some aspect of timing for peak fitness?

My general approach is pretty simplistic, which is to try to improve my performance in the quality workouts each time through the cycle.

5k paced run tomorrow. Any thoughts on pacing/strategy? My plan as of now is to go sub 4:00/k. Would like to be down around 3:55 if possible.

If possible, please clarify when/how to back off at the right time.

Well after that I'd say my fitness is coming along and my pace judgment is terrible:
3:54
4:12
4:00
3:53
3:50
19:49

I ran the first km on the track where I feel like I can lock in my pace pretty well. Then moved onto the road and obviously was way off on my speed and adjusted after seeing the splits.

No race next weekend but I'm up for a TT, 8k?

if you feel on form have a go at a 5k course (a course you can use in the future, so do plot it beforehand) .. 8k if you not up to burning it
