sub 35 minute 10K - pg10818 - 01-06-2011

Is the sub 35 minute 10K program appropriate for me? I ran a 32:50 5 mile race on Monday.

I plan to run a 10k race Jun 26. Currently training 6 days/wk.

Thanks for the feedback.

Hi and welcome pg10818

we would rather recommend you start with the sub 40 minute 10k program

http://www.time-to-run.com/training/10k/sub40.htm

as a 32 minute 8k equates to maybe a 41 minute 10k

so for now consider training on the sub 40 program and then after the race we can reassess

please provide feedback and we can get you used to the cycle

cheers

Great forum! Thanks for your expertise and quick reply TheEd. Would you recommend I begin today or wait a few more days to align closer to race? Or begin now and taper following completion of program? thanks.

consider doing at least 4 x 2k at the pace for the sub 40 minute program tomorrow and then you can get a feel of what is to come

and thereafter we can roll you towards the event

Cheers

Progressing well. Today is Day 09. I feel pretty good. I'm able to keep pace. Yesterday felt good on 6x1k.

Yesterday was day 16. I feel pretty good. Day 3 5 x 2k were the most challenging overall. I hit all 10 x 400's on day 15. On the 'easy day' runs, I hope I ran them at the correct pace? I average 7:30 /mile most of the time. Maybe I should pick that up? I'm looking forward to the race and improving my time. In the meantime, how might I taper.

Thanks.

Should I plan for day 17 today and start over at day 1?

sub 35 minute 10K - TheEd - 17-06-2011

you need to slot in a race day or trial before starting with the next cycle which would be Day1 next Tuesday

so you could test yourself tomorrow with a rest today

provide feedback and then you will receive an answer about your feedback for the forthcoming sessions

please let me know if this is not clear

TheEd
ps.. the reason for the test, is to teach and develop you with the rhythm of the cycles
