Countdown to Stellenbosch and Joburg Ladies Races - TheEd - 04-08-2011 Excitement reigns as runners prepare to celebrate National Women’s Day by participating in the Totalsports Ladies Race in Stellenbosch and Johannesburg on Tuesday, 09 August 2011. Stellenbosch ~ Top South African road and track athlete, Rene Kalmer will head to the Winelands this Women’s Day where she’ll take part in the Stellenbosch leg of the hugely anticipated Totalsports Ladies Race. Kalmer, representing the Nedbank Running Club, walked off with gold at the inaugural Totalsports Ladies Race Durban at Kingspark Athletics Stadium this past weekend (Sunday, 31 July 2011). According to Kalmer, she is using the Totalsports Ladies Races to test whether her marathon training for the World Championship is up to schedule. “Winning the Totalsports Ladies Race in Durban was a great experience. There was an amazing vibe amongst the runners. I enjoyed running through the Nedbank Green Mile section of the route, the motivational posters featured in this section carried me through to the end. I’m really looking forward to taking part at the Totalsports Ladies Race in Stellenbosch”, says Kalmer. A portion of the Stellenbosch entry fees will go towards the JAG Foundation. Johannesburg ~ Runners that were unsuccessful in pre entering for the Totalsports Ladies Race in Johannesburg will be pleased to hear that late entries will be accepted on Friday and Saturday (05 and 06 August 2011). Event Information: DATE: Tuesday, 09 August 2011 VENUE: Rooseveldt High School, Emmerentia START: 08h00 DISTANCE: 5km run/walk & 10km run/walk Number collection and late entries: VENUE: Rooseveldt High School, Emmarentia DATE & TIME: Friday, 05 August 2011 from 14h00 – 17h00 Saturday, 06 August 2011 from 10h00 – 17h00 A portion of the Johannesburg entries will be donated to Nanga Vhutshilo. The Nedbank Green Mile will be a hive of excitement in both Stellenbosch and Johannesburg with runners and walkers receiving support from the likes of musicians, cheerleaders, dancers and more. Medals will be awarded to all finishers.
