rob .. you should take time to go through this thread and see how often you put a spike into your consistency and training

you must start focusing on trying to avoid such things happening as you becoming a 'font of frustration' for yourself

Wink

hopefully you recover quickly

I ran the 10k route on saturday in 44.26. Why am i so slow!

I went out faster and the first 5k was quick. I picked up a stitch 2 thirds of the way round. Slowed til it was gone then pushed to the end.

I think i'm getting to old I blame my old age stitch for not improving on my times again

Back to the drawing board for me.

Rob .. your 19:10 5k shows that you should be running, you need to assess what is causing these stitches?

don't get disheartened

you should manage at least a 42 minute 10k off the 5k time from above, so somewhere there is a focus problem setting in which may be due to unnecessary pressure being placed on yourself.

Over to you

Ok here come the excuses - Leading up to the race day i did a cross country route and seemed to strain my calf muscle.

I rested it and then with some long car driving journeys the pain seem to move up into my hamstring.

Something to do with having my right foot on the accelerator for long periods of time.

More rest and Ice :noway:

The morning of the race day i could still just feel the pain but ran it anyway. I was annoyed.

I might run a race day on the treadmill and see how i do. Just to feel a bit better about myself Sad

More lessons have been learned!
