Yep, that's what I was thinking.

I'll let you know how it goes!

Cheers,

Joey

TheEd,

7.2K time trial yesterday (the 7.2 was an easier distance to map out than 8k)

14.19
13.35
_____
27.54

I was pretty happy with this.

One thing that I noticed was how fast I recovered after finishing - within a minute I was feeling good enough to jog, whereas with previous hard runs it's taken a lot longer to recover.
Is this possibly due to the short recovery periods during the track sessions?

Cheers,

Joey

Your recovery would be directly related to your improved fitness levels

the shorter rests allows for your pulse not to drop too low so that we are able to train various energy levels more effectively, thus stimulating normal race conditions as well as increasing fitness

Hope this explanation helps

Congrats and nice to see you happy with your improvement

Hey Ed,

Just been looking about for upcoming races, there's not a lot that fall on the 3rd week of the cycle ('race day'), so I've only been able to add 1 to the calendar so far;

May 17: 11k road race.

Easy runs have been good this week, nice and slow!
2k session tomorrow, looking forward to it! Bring on sub 7.50!!

Cheers,

Joey

Hello TheEd,

Good 5x2k session tonight!

7.52.1
7.46.2
7.41.9
7.38.0
7.18.4

avg:7.39.3

Was quite happy that every rep got faster.
Comparing this to the last 2k session 3 weeks ago, the average time is about 17sec faster, BUT last time recovery lengths were 60-70sec, whereas tonight the recovery lengths were 90sec.

Considering this, can you see much improvement?

Cheers,
Joey

Joey, if you are able to keep the body functioning correctly without injury and sickness I think you will be moving to a new level quite shortly

congrats

one question, the 2k session where did you do this, 2nd lane of track?

still be cautious and let your natural ability still function, don't overtrain

Thanks

TheEd

TheEd,

Yeah, lane 2 of running track again.

I'm quite cautious about over-training, I did a lot of very hard running as a junior which I learned a lot from. So I'm trying to balance it between running hard but still enjoying the sessions - which seems to be working well so far.

Looking forward to moving to a new level!

Cheers,
Joe

G'Day Ed!

I've had a good few recovery days after the 5x2k session on Thursday.
6x1k session tomorrow, last time I ran an average of 3.42

What sort of times do you suggest I aim for tomorrow?

Thanks,

Joey

aim for the same speed 3.40 with the last 3 at 3.30 if capable
